| There
are two major styles of Underground Faulted Circuit Indicators
– Mechanical and Electronic. The Mechanical units offer
years of economical fault indication. Rotor, submersible
and fluid units are available with or without provisions
for hotsick installation. Electronic units provide a wide
range of options and are reset automatically. The one size
fits all Load Tracker is the most advanced unit available
today. All Electronic units are capable of remote indication
through the use of fiber optic cable and all units can be
upgraded to SCADA, or Cellular Reporting.

Load Tracker
Self Adjusting
• One Size Fits All
• Closed Core CT Design
• Manual Test and Reset
Load Tracking capability allows utilities to use one fault
indicator for all requirements without concern for coordination studies.
The Load Tracker Faulted Circuit Indicator represents state of the art
closed core design technology. The Load Tracker offers the highest degree
of proximity immunity available. Underground circuits that require automatic
reset fault indicators have cable spacing constraints that require a
high degree of immunity from adjacent cable circuits. In many cases
false trip or reset conditions can occur that will adversely affect
FCIs that are sensitive to and dependent on load current for reset.
The Load Tracker Fault Indicator offers the highest degree of immunity
while still being able to sense and reset on current.
Hotstick applied,
one size fits all, close proximity immunity, the ultimate answer to
UG fault locating.

FCI
222 Series Type M
Underground
· Automatic Time and Manual Reset
· Self Power
· Armed and Ready
FCI 222 Series Type M is a self powered fault indicator for use on underground
distribution circuits. Fault registration is evidenced by a flashing
red light emitting diode located either directly on the FCI device or
remotely visible up to 100 feet via fiber optic cable. The unit is powered
by a non-replaceable long life lithium oxide cell that is encapsulated
in epoxy resin for consistent reliability to 15 feet of submersion.
Automatic reset is accomplished by time passage of 2 or 4 hours. Trip
levels are discrete and factory adjusted to the customers requirements
from 100 to 2000 amps. Trip speed is selectable from one of three time
current curves. These curves are defined as D (delayed), U (undelayed)
and D/U (delayed/undelayed). Please refer to Time/Current Curves in
the applications section of the catalog for precise timing curves.

LOAD TRACKER
• Audible Sounding Indication
• Hot Stick Applied
• Manual Test and Reset
• Self Adjusting Trip Rating
The Acoustic Fault Indicator emits a loud beeping sound to indicate
faults. This unique indication is especially useful in locating faults
when equipment is covered with snow. The sounding indication eliminates
the need to dig out equipment just to get a visual of the indicator
thus saving effort and time. Load Tracking technology automatically
sizes the Fault Indicator so it is properly sized for every circuit
application.

Underground
Mechanical Rotor Type
· Reliable (50 Years of service)
· Economical URD Indication
· Easy to install
· Manual reset
· Factory set trip level
The economical and reliable design was the first FCI ever produced and
consists of a closed core yoke attached to the indicator housing. The
indicator housing contains a rotor which is painted two colors, one
red for tripped indication and one black for non-tripped.

Underground
Mechanical Submersible Rotor
· Water Tight
· Economical URD Indicator
· 200A to 2000 A Trip rating
· Use on Overhead Applications for Nuisance Trips
The Submersible FCI consists of a yoke with an attached indicating
housing. The water tight indicating housing uses a rotating disk to
indicate fault and is reset manually by an attached reset magnet. The
metal components are all stainless steel.

Mechanical Fluid Automatic Reset
· Automatic / Mechanical Reset
· Armed and Ready
· Economical URD Indicator
· Factory set trip
This unique economical design consists of a closed core yoke with
an attached indicating housing. The indicating housing consists of a glass
tube containing a non-freezing liquid solution consisting of fine red
particles and an iron spring agitator. As fault current passes, the iron
spring is excited and agitates the red color to indicate a fault. The
red particles settle to the bottom within 4 to 8 hours indicating clear
solution or no fault. |
